<\/figure>\n\n\n\nA free family fair connecting Downeast Maine families with local activities, resources, services, and opportunities. Located in the Reynolds Center Gymnasium at the University of Maine at Machias. Created in collaboration with Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine & The Kinship Program, Porter Memorial Library, Sunrise Opportunities Prevention Council, and the Community Caring Collaborative\u2019s Family, Friend & Neighbor Network. Visit the\u00a0Facebook page<\/a>\u00a0to stay up to date on this event!<\/p>\n\n\n\nStorywalk\u00ae<\/sup><\/h2>\n\n\n\nHealthy Acadia partnered with PML to install a year-round Storywalk\u00ae<\/sup> in the library yard. A library volunteer will come to your classroom to provide children with a library card, (caregiver\u2019s signature is required) and the opportunity to check out books from Porter Memorial Library. Also, a volunteer can provide books on rotation for a classroom library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Classroom Visits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Classes are invited to have a one-time visit or a regularly scheduled visit to the library. Plan your visit with Library Director Lee Downing at 207-255-3933.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Storytime at the Library<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Tuesdays at 11:00 AM a volunteer or guest will read a story and provide a craft for children in the Children\u2019s Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Children’s Library Garden<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
From planting seeds to harvesting, the Children\u2019s Library will have a busy garden plot, during the growing season, where children can help care for the garden in the back yard at the library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Book Reviews from the Children’s Library<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Children are encouraged to share their reactions to library books from PML. Book Reviews will be posted in the Children\u2019s Library and may also be submitted to Machias Valley News Observer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Book Club<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Age-appropriate Book Clubs will meet in the Children\u2019s Library on a scheduled basis to discuss readers\u2019 reactions to recommended books. Check with the library for dates and times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lego Time<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Drop-in Lego play once a month on a Friday from 1 to 4pm. Check the calendar for dates. Legos are provided, as well as Duplos for children under 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Art Shows<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Display your art in the Children\u2019s Library Art Shows! Homeschool and school-based art shows will be announced throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
STEM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The Children\u2019s Library features Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) sessions monthly. Check the calendar or our Facebook page to find out more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
