The Results Are In!
In the latter part of 2015, a series of community conversations was held to identify issues and opportunities facing the Porter Memorial Library. The findings from these conversations, compiled by Jane Haskell of the University of Maine, are now available for viewing.
In addition, the focus group conversations have facilitated our continued effort to create a fully accessible design for the library, a process which began at last summer's meeting with Carter Architectural Design of Bangor. As part of the data collection phase of the project, architect Matthew Carter, who visited the library numerous times to measure the building and discuss library needs, was able to use information from the final focus group report in his own Space Requirements Summary, which he presented to the library trustees two weeks ago. After a comment period on the said summary, Mr. Carter will begin the design process.
